    State Consumer Welfare Fund

    The Government has amended Rule 38 of the Sales Tax Act w.e.f. 1-4-1989. As per this amendment, the amount of sales tax which is recovered wrongly from the consumers by the traders and which is not possible to return is deposited in the Consumer Welfare Fund. The fund is utilized on the items related to Consumer Protection. Every Year a grant of Rs.10 lakhs is sanctioned by the State Govt. which is deposited in this fund. The fund is managed by Secretary, Jt / Dy Secretary, Financial Advisor & Deputy Secretary & two non-official members. Following 2 non-official members are appointed on this committee.
