Black Marketing Prevention Act for Essential Commodities, 1980

The Government takes following action to maintain rates of Essential Commodities and prevent stocking and Black Marketing :

1. The Central Government has brought in-force Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980 in all the States. The State Government, District Magistrate and Police Commissioner may detain, if any person is trying to obstruct the supply of Essential Commodities under this Act.
2. If any complaint is received either from public or from any organization, an action can be taken by carrying in enquiry through Competent Authorities.
3. Controller of Rationing, Mumbai / District Collectors / District Supply Officers can raid and arrest the culprits with the help of State Police under Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and can prosecute under Court of Law.
