Scheme regarding Distribution of Food grains at BPL rate to Welfare Institutions, Hostels etc.

Under the Welfare Insitution & Hostel Scheme of the Central Government, foodgrains (wheat and rice) 15 kg per month are distributed at BPL rate to beneficiaries living in welfare institutions and hostels in the state.

GoI had taken a decision to distribute allocations only to government-owned and government-run institutions under the scheme of welfare institutions and hostels. However, GoI vide its letter dated 13.02.2020 has decided to approve allocation for beneficiaries in Government aided Welfare Institutions and Hostels, including welfare institutions owned and operated by the Government under Welfare Institutions and Hostels Scheme. Presently 3,174 welfare institutions and hostels in the state and 3,34,801 beneficiaries are registered in AePDS system.

Under the Welfare Institutions and Hostels Scheme, the Central Government vide its letter dated 27.12.2023 has allocated total 10,490.178 MTs of food-grain (6261.186 MTs of wheat and 4228.992 MTs of rice) for October, 2023 to March, 2024 and same has been distributed to field officers vide Government Order dated 28.12.2023.
