State And District Level Consumer Protection Council

State Consumer Protection Council

As per Government Decision dated 29/08/2022, there is a provision for establishment of State Consumer Protection Council at the State level. There are total number of 52 members on this council. 17 of them are non-governmental members. Various Government/Non-Government Officers concerned with consumer protection as well as individuals/organizations representing the interests of consumers are elected to the Council. The State Level Consumer Protection Council is chaired by Hon'ble Minister, Food, Civil Supplies Consumer Protection. The duration of this Council is 3 years.

District Consumer Protection Council

According to the Government Decision dated 29/08/2022, there is a provision to establish the District Consumer Protection Council at the district level. There are total 42 members on the said council. District level Consumer Protection Council is chaired by District Collector. The duration of this Council is 3 years.

Consumer Welfare Advisory Committee

The Consumer Welfare Advisory Committee was established under the Government Decision dated 10/5/2001 to advise the Government regarding the measures to be taken to spread this movement in the rural areas by encouraging consumer movements in the state. However, the said committee has been dismissed as per the Government Decision dated 03/02/2020 as the objective expected by the Government is not being achieved.
