Scheme for Modernization and Reform through Technology in Public Distribution System (SMART-PDS)

The Central Government has approved the Scheme for Modernization and Reform through Technology in Public Distribution System (SMART-PDS) for the period of 3 years 2023-2026 and through its letter dated 04.05.2023. The Objective of SMART-PDS scheme is to maintain the improvements in technology implemented under the End to End Computerization and Integrated management of Public distribution system (ImPDS) scheme and to update the said technology in the future. As reforms in the public distribution system based on new technology is the need of the day, the central government has decided to implement a new scheme. Accordingly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been Signed with the Department of Food and Public Distribution, GoI on dated 04.08.2023. Also, State Government has decided to Implement Scheme for Modernization and Reform through Technology in Public Distribution System (SMART-PDS) in the state for the period 2023-26 as per the government decision dated 27.02.2024.

State Project Implementation Team (SPIT) and Command Control Center will be established to provide technical support for the implementation of SMART-PDS scheme. A centralized cloud server has been proposed in the SMART-PDS scheme.
